Glorieta's surprisingly diverse outdoor recreation options are a favorite of guests of all ages.

On any given day, visitors across the campus can enjoy our recreation areas set against the backdrop of stunning mountains. The recreation areas include:

As an added benefit to our guests, many of Glorieta's recreational activities are available to you at no additional charge.  Equipment is available complimentary for registered guests to check out at either the main Rec Shack (near the recreation fields) or at the registration desk in New Mexico Hall.  Guests will only be charged (replacement value) if equipment is damaged or not returned.  Hours of operation for the Rec Shack vary based on campus occupancy.

We can help you create an adventure experience that will have a lasting impact on your group at Glorieta. Each of these outdoor experiences is facilitated by trained leaders of Glorieta's Recreation Staff. Advance reservations are required for most adventure activities.

Rate Information
Additional times and rates are also available, 10 person groups required to make reservations for most activities. Programs that include a combination of these activities are available. Group rates are also available.

Laser Tag
You can experience the same thrill of paintball indoors (based on availability) or outdoors without the intimidation of whizzing paintballs. Great for quick energizing activities during your busy conference schedule. Rate: $13.00 per person, 45 minute session with a required minimum of 10 people per group required to make a reservation. If a trip to Glorieta does not fit your schedule, ask us about coming to you.

Team Initiatives
Team Initiatives are a series of activities designed to facilitate communication, teamwork and group building. These activities may include our low ropes course. Rate: $10.00 per person per 2 hour session, with a minimum of 10 persons per group.

Tandem Zip Line
This incredible 800-foot tandem zip line allows two individuals to simultaneously race their way across the beautiful New Mexico horizon. $5.00 per person per ride. Minimum of 10 participants to make a reservation. The minimum age for this activity is 10 years. Also, anyone who is too small for our harness, regardless of age, may not participate due to safety concerns.  (Notice: 250 lbs. participant weight limit for this activity.)

Giant Swing
Our Giant Swing combines teamwork, trust and the thrill of swinging through the air from a tree top height. You choose how high you go. Rate: $5.00 per ride. Minimum of 10 participants to make a reservation. The minimum age for this activity is 10 years. Also, anyone who is too small for our harness, regardless of age, may not participate due to safety concerns.

Climbing Wall
Nothing is more satisfying than to accomplish a challenging climb. Scale one of our 45-foot climbing routes then take a moment to enjoy the beauty of the Glorieta campus from the top of our climbing tower. Rate: $5 per person (guaranteed at least two attempts). Minimum of 10 participants to make a reservation.  The minimum age for this activity is 10 years. Also, anyone who is too small for our harness, regardless of age, may not participate due to safety concerns.

Giant Ladder
You and your partner will feel challenged as you work together to ascend our oversized ladder. This 40-foot climb will challenge your body and your mind as you battle the free movement of the ladder, and the surprising distance between the steps.  The minimum age for this activity is 10 years. Also, anyone who is too small for our harness, regardless of age, may not participate due to safety concerns.

High Ropes Challenge
Physically challenging ropes course activities that take place at elevations reaching 45-feet above the ground. Activities include cable crossings, traversing across the incline catwalk, scaling challenging climbing routes on our climbing wall and many other challenging activities. Fully supervised by trained staff. Rate: $23.00 per person per 2 hr session. Minimum of 10 participants per group.  The minimum age for this activity is 10 years. Also, anyone who is too small for our harness, regardless of age, may not participate due to safety concerns.

Recommended Adventure Recreation Programs

  • "Choose Any Two" - A combination of two for two hours (Zip Line, Giant Swing, Climbing Wall or Giant Ladder). Rate $13.00 per person for unlimited attempts. Minimum of 10 participants to make a reservation.
  • 4 hour Team Initiatives - A series of challenges crafted specifically to help you achieve your group goals.
  • Team Initiatives & High Ropes Challenge Course - This sequence will create a team development experience that will encourage communication, collaboration and confidence.

Paintball
Teamwork and strategy are a must in this fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping activity. Your group may choose to either play on our 20,000 square foot speed ball area, or in our 3 acre woods playing area. Rate is $18.00 per person per one hour session. Safety Equipment, paintball marker, and 200 quantity paintballs provided. Additional hour is $10.00 and includes another 200 paintballs. $5.00 for each additional paintball refill.

Mountain Biking
We offer mountain biking as a camp activity to all of our groups. Mountain Biking sessions are facilitated by a trained Adventure Recreation staff person. Activity includes instruction in bike preparation, basic riding and safety skills as well as exciting riding time on Glorieta's beautiful and challenging trails. Rate: $20.00 per person for a two hour session. Minimum of 4 participants required for reservations.

To Make a Reservation
Advance reservations are required for most adventure activities.

Release Form Requirements
You must be at least 10 years old to participate in most adventure activities and at least 8 years old to participate in mountain biking and laser tag. Youth 17 years and younger require a notarized release form signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to participating in Adventure Recreation activities (if a parent or legal guardian is not present at the activity). Please bring your participation waiver form to the activity. Please do not fax the form prior to your arrival.
